Trauma-Informed Education
Staff were trained in the Berry Street Education Model in 2024 to ensure a whole-school approach. Ready-to-Learn scale posters are located around the school in various forms (one features pictures of dogs) as one of the tools currently being rolled out. Plans for new staff (including myself) to participate in this training are currently unknown.
The school works with Foundation House, to help refugee students heal from past traumas, adapt to life in Australia, engage with their learning, and create a supportive school environment.
A Hands-On Learning program, including its own learning area located within the school, provides support to a small group of “at-risk” Years 7-9 students with building practical skills, confidence and wellbeing so they can re-engage with their education.
